Given that this is probably the last year Turing will be used as a programming language within this jurisdiction and will likely be removed from the Board servers, I have begun looking for a replacement language which is both rigorous and forgiving for students. So far, no luck. However, I have begun to incorporate Flash into the course which, along with podcasting, will form an alternative to slideshows. Thus, the redesign for this term is complete. In also integrating an annotated bibliography into the array of assignments and evaluations.

Project Gutenberg to the rescue. I’ve decided to divide up the novel section into sub-genres, i.e., Gothic Romance, Moral Didactic, etc. Also, I’m only using public domain works available in e-text form. Several of the novels are also available as public domain audiobooks. This, I hope, will work well. Students can download all texts used in the course from the class wiki. Currently, I am redesign ETS. I’ve made modifications to the poetry section, and the blog section. The problem I’m trying to come to terms with is the Novel Section. What was initially a good idea, ie., using trilogies and quartets has run into a snag: namely, the availability of the series in e-text form. I am presently searching for e-texts of appropriate merit which can be substituted. I aim to be finished this by Thursday of this week. This blog is designed for teachers, students, and affiliates of Rockland District High School. It is a venue I hope will serve as a clearinghouse of information on efficiency, innovation, and educational technology. In addition, as an experimental vehicle in student blogging. |
